r-Mussel Oligopeptide-1 is a single chain recombinant mussel protein, produced by fermentation in E. coli. The starting gene is directly isolated from Mytilus galloprovincialis which codes for Foot Protein 5. The protein contains a maximum of 76 amino acids and consists of the proper sequence of the 20 standard amino acids.
